Dan's Bio

Dan Bernskoetter began his photography borrowing his mother's Brownie box camera.  His first memorable image with the Brownie was a black and white photo  of Lou Brock of the St Louis Cardinals, during a visit to Sportsman's park in St Louis in his youth.  Dan purchased his first SLR, a Yashica with three prime lenses in 1980, the same year the family moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas.  In 1982 Dan purchased a Tamron zoom telephoto lens and 2X converter.  In 2005 Dan purchased a Canon Rebel DSLR with two Sigma zoom lenses.  A family visit to Yellowstone National Park motivated Dan to create wildlife and landscape images .

In May of 2011 Dan started Dan Bernskoetter Photography, as a part time venture.  Retiring from a 42 year telecom career in March of 2013 now allows Dan to devote more time to his passion and love of many forms of photography.  His photography business includes commercial work for a wide variety of business.

Dan is member of the Rocky Mountain Outdoor Writers and Photographers, competing with many famous wildlife and nature photographer and writers..  He is a volunteer naturalist for the Missouri Department of Conservation at the Runge Nature Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. He does portraiture and commercial photography, however nature photography is his passion.
